Friend,
Our local Neighborhood Walmart is currently revamping the store. I must admit, it’s kinda stressful.
I liked walking in and knowing exactly where to go to get the Taki’s, Gatorade, Poptarts, and other various items for our teenage boys. I liked the comfort of not thinking when I’m shopping. But I don't know what to expect each time I’ve gone in lately, and it seems like something on my list can’t be found.
Now, I’m sure Walmart has spent millions of dollars figuring out how to get an extra $7.23 from each of us each time, and that this renovation is designed to enhance our shopping experience, but change is not easy and often not wanted.
And here is what I’m learning about change: When one thing changes, five things change. When five things change, twenty-five things change.
1→5→25
This is one reason why change is scary. One change forces many more changes. And we don’t know when it will stop. Our Walmart has a sign that says “Our Grand Reopening will be May 5th,” which is their message that the end of changes is near. Most of life doesn’t operate that clearly.
You are in a season of change, and it is stressful. You might be on change 1, 5, or 25, and you are wondering what else will be impacted, and so let me tell you the one thing I know that doesn’t change.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
Love,
Aaron
