Friend,
When I was a kid, I hated the taste of liquid medicine, and it took me a while to learn how to swallow pills.
Apparently, you can pass that on to your children.
Our youngest used to have the same struggle. We knew he had to take the antibiotic or Tylenol and he would feel better, but, like his dad, he would psych himself out and something small would become big.
You’ve done that as well. You’ve taken this little thing and made it big; for some reason, this hill in front of you has become a mountain in your mind.
What I would tell our son (and what I’ve had to tell myself) is “10 seconds of courage. Can you be brave for 10 seconds?”
Now, I’ll ask you, what have you been putting off, delaying, or hesitant to do even though you know it is what you need for healing and hope?
Could you muster up 10 seconds of courage to call that family member, start that exercise routine, or email that doctor?
And do you know what I’ve found? 98% of the time what kept me from doing something never happened. The obstacle in front of me wasn’t a mountain, but a hill, and I’ve climbed plenty of those over the years- and so have you.
10 seconds of courage. Can you be brave for 10 seconds?
I know you can.
Love,
Aaron
P.S. Need prayer? I’d be honored to pray with you. Send me a request here.
