Friend,
You almost did it.
You almost believed the truth that others see in you, instead of the fears and anxiety that lie to you inside of you.
You heard the voices of people saying that they believe in you, that you are enough, and that you will do great. Those words entered your ears and maneuvered to the brain, but they never made it down to take residence in your heart.
You perceive them, but you don’t believe them.
That breaks my heart.
For various reasons, your heart is noisy and nasty to yourself. How can you be so generous, so kind, and so uplifting to your family, your friends, and even strangers, (Yeah, that’s you who randomly compliments the person you just met in the store!) while being so cruel, hateful, and degrading to yourself?
That breaks my heart.
What if for today, when you received our words of truth and encouragement and believed them?
What if for today, you told that cruel inner critic to “Shut up,” so that the voices of your genuine friends could be heard not just by your ears and your brains, but to have (at the very least) temporary residence in your heart?
What if you tried it again tomorrow?
Love,
Aaron
