Blessed are the Persecuted

Matthew 5:10

God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
    for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Matthew 5:10

I don’t know if this is controversial, but it seems like we are much more inclined to see persecution in our country as backlash from stating an unpopular opinion than we are actual persecution.
