Friend,
Despair is a one-way street.
Rob Bell once said, “Despair is the belief that tomorrow will be just like today.” It’s easy to get rolling down the one-way street of despair. In despair, everything looks grey and if the sun does come up, then it will undoubtedly shine right in your eyes.
There’s no quick fix for despair because despair didn’t rush onto the scene.
But this one-way street does have intersections coming up. Will you be ready to turn onto a new road when you have a chance?
I think the first step to get off of Despair St. is to get in the turn lane. Don’t stay in the middle of despair, get to the side, put your blinker on, and look for the intersections:
Laughter
Thanksgiving
Invitation
It’ll take courage to get in the turn lane, but you can do that. I believe in you.
Love,
Aaron
