Presence is Greater Than Protection
#202
Friend,
If anyone deserves it to all work out, it is you. You’ve been faithful. You’ve been encouraging. You’ve prayed passionately for others. And now, you need others praying passionately for you.
It’s not supposed to be this way. This isn’t supposed to happen to you and your family.
You deserve a break, a healing, a miracle. And I’m praying for that for you. I’ll keep praying for the breakthrough miracle.
It’s natural to ask, “Where is God?” or “Why would God allow this to happen?” And there are theological answers and pastoral answers, and you need a pastoral answer.
When Jesus was in his final week, he didn’t promise his disciples protection. In fact, he said the opposite: “In this life, you will have trouble.” But instead of protection, he offered them presence. Hear these words of Jesus (Amplified Translation):
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
Jesus can’t promise you protection from the brokenness of this world, so he gives you something better: His Presence.
Love,
Aaron
