The Danger that Follows Disappointment
Friend,
I know you are disappointed today.
You had an expectation of something that ended up being an illusion. You wanted it to be different, to be better, to be what you needed it to be, and it let you down. That sucks. I’m sorry.
But now you are facing the danger that always follows disappointment: bitterness.
Bitterness is the natural result of unprocessed disappointment. Bitterness rarely disappears. Bitterness festers. Bitterness infects. Bitterness loves company.
I don’t want you to become bitter, I want you to become better.
Better is hard. Better take work. Better takes courage. Better means facing more disappointments.
So you and I have a choice today: bitter or better.
And it starts with naming your disappointment and grieving the gap between your hopes and your reality.
There’s more work after that, but that’s probably enough for your weary soul to do today.
Love,
Aaron
