There’s this great 90s worship song called “God of Wonders.” It is all about the grandeur of God. Here’s a short sample of the lyrics,

Lord of all creation
Lord of water, earth and sky
The heavens are your Tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on high

And God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of heaven and earth
Lord of heaven and earth

We need hymns like this that remind us that God is the Lord of all. We need to look beyond our town, state, country, planet, solar system, and galaxy, and embrace the mystery of the God of the Universe.

But you don’t need that today.

You don’t need the Lord of All.

You need the Lord of This.

You know He’s got the Whole World in His Hands,
But you need him to hold
This daughter,
This depression,
This disease,
This divorce,
This debt,
This devastation.

You know he’s the Lord of All, but you need him to be the Lord of This.

And that is my prayer for you, that the Lord who spoke and created the universe will speak into this today. His eye is on the sparrow, and his eye is on this.
