Friend,
And now you’re back.
Years ago, I worked at a restaurant, near a major shopping area, and I loved the time between Christmas and when the kids went back to school. It was in the time, when the day of the week didn’t matter, and people were not in a rush to buy or do something, but instead were just out and about, spending gift cards, and eating. The restaurant I worked at set records for the best Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday one year during Winter Break. People were happy. And happy people tip better.
But then the calendar, as it is known to do, keeps moving forward, and the break was over, and routine struck again. Monday returned to normal, and most of us don’t like Mondays.
And today, it is even worse, because today is the Mondayiest of Mondays.
I know this is not an easy day for you. You will long for those long days with nothing instead of the long day with seemingly everything. You will miss that time as a family, and Wednesday, let alone Friday, seems so far. (Plus, most of the country is miserably cold today!)
You don’t have a choice that today is the Mondayiest of Mondays. You do have a choice if you look for light, if you look for friendship, if you look for delight. Because today is a new day, and I believe God still does new things on new days, even on Mondays.
Love,
Aaron

And the sun is out today! :)
