Friend,
“It should be noted that there is more work to be done than could be done.”
I included that in an email the other day, and I figured you are nodding your head today. In a world that continually produces more and more content, including an estimated 3.7 million youtube videos added yesterday, we need to be reminded that we are limited.
Here’s a list of the things you can’t do today or any day:
Watch all the new shows that come out.
Follow all local, state, and national politics.
Talk to your friends and family that you care about.
Eat dinner at all the places in town you haven’t been to yet.
Complete all the work that you could do in your job.
Make a list of all the things that people can’t do in one given day.
Again, it should be noted that there is more work to be done than could be done. And that’s not a bad thing. In fact, it can be a gift.
You and I are beautifully limited and merely human. We are not intended to be omniscient or omnipresent. Our desire to know everything and be everywhere can prevent us from knowing the people who are right in front of us.
So today, I want you to feel free that you are not necessarily able to complete that to-do list, watch every show someone has recommended, or reply to every email. Instead, I certainly invite you to work hard, however, I also invite you to be present knowing that life isn’t meant to be completed, but lived.
Love,
Aaron
P.S. I’m so thankful for you reading this and especially for my paid subscribers. If you have been blessed by this (and other posts) then I’d love to have you subscribe. I send out a special Red Letters to a Weary Soul on Fridays and a monthly What I’m Learning post. I hope it blesses you, and your reading certainly blesses me.
