Friend,
They just dropped by.
You didn’t invite this guest over. You didn’t get the house ready. You didn’t have time to pick up. This guest just showed up at your house, and they barged in.
This uninvited guest sat down, took their shoes off, put their feet on your couch, asked you what was for dinner, and turned on the TV.
You weren’t expecting them. You have 28 things on your to-do list. You aren’t glad they are here, but now you have to stop what you were doing and planning to do, to attend to the uninvited guest.
This isn’t the first time that they’ve dropped by.
This guest once walked in, broke a few dishes, and walked out the back door.
Another time, this guest came in, declared I’m staying for a while, and for the next month, they were always present. You insisted they find another place to stay, but they were stubborn.
Sometimes this guest has made you laugh. Other times they have made you cry. Even a few times the guest came in, you didn’t even realize it at first.
It had been a while since this uninvited guest had come by. You had begun to think that last time was the last time that they would drop by, but here they are again taking over your house and your home.
So finally, you asked the uninvited guest their name, and they told you,
“Grief, my name is Grief.”
Love,
Aaron
