Walking with a Limp
#147
Friend,
I noticed you limping the other day.
I used to think that walking with a limp was a sign of weakness.
If you were limping, it’s because you were hurt. You were not enough. Something was wrong with you. I’d look for people of strength who were uninjured, who walked boldly without a hitch.
Then I started limping. People didn’t notice it at first; it was something minor, and I did my best to not let anyone notice. When my limp got worse, I just stayed home- afraid that my weakness would be exposed. When I finally got out with a slight hitch, I realized I was wrong.
Limping is not a sign of weakness. Limping is a sign of courage. It is a sign of strength. Limping shows great character and tenacity, and someone who has taken a journey through pain and is willing to keep walking on the other side.
A friend of mine said the other day, “I wouldn’t follow a leader without a limp.” And I’m glad to follow you.
Love,
Aaron

Thank you Aaron from someone born with a club foot who has walked her entire life with a limp….never feeling she was enough. This messaged turned that limp around.
