What I'm Learning: March 2024

Happy Easter!

Happy last day of March.

It’s time for “What I’m Learning.” This is a post where I’ve shared what I’ve been listening to, reading, and watching that has influenced my thinking and thus my writing.

If you have something that you’ve been learning, then I’d invite you to write it in the comments, so we can learn from each other.

Here we go for March 2024

  • Still watching Madam Secretary on Netflix. Love this quote from Henry McCord, “Humility makes space for new possibilities.” I’ll be thinking about that for a while.

She interviewed Curt Thompson about his book The Deepest Place: Suffering and the Formation of Hope. I’m preaching about the journey of hope in April at Christ Church on Harvard, and there is so much goodness here.

  • God Gave Rock and Roll to You: A History of Contemporary Christian Music by Leah Payne tells the story of CCM. CCM has been a part of my life for the past 30 years, and I learned a lot about what goes on behind the music and the link between CCM and American Christianity, both positively and negatively.

  • This chart from this article explains so much:
