You Have Questions.
#170
Friend,
“You have questions. We have answers.”
Once upon a time, there was an electronic retail store called RadioShack. It was like a mini Best Buy, and they were everywhere. That was their slogan: “You have questions. We have answers.”
Catchy isn’t it? Who doesn’t want their questions answered?
There is a problem though: Not every question can be answered, and even some great answers aren’t good enough.
I know you have questions. They gnaw at your soul, they wake you up in the middle of the night, and they surprise you suddenly like a wasp sting on a leisurely Sunday afternoon walk. And I hate to tell you, but there are no good answers to some of your questions.
You want something to make sense, but sometimes things are senseless.
You want to know what someone is thinking, but they may not be willing or able to share.
You want to know why, and the response leaves you more perplexed than before.
You have questions, which ones need answers?
Sometimes our desire to have our questions answered will leave us stuck. We can’t move forward internally until we get an external question answered. That’s a tough place to be, and I don’t want you to stay on confusion island.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is set aside your urgent need to have a question answered, table it for now, and walk forward through the dark hallway until you find a room that has the light on. Perhaps one day, you can return and, from a different perspective, with a friend, find what you are looking for, or perhaps you’ll discover something more beautiful in the rooms ahead and never need to return.
Love,
Aaron
