Friends,
Is it possible to be both dreading and looking forward to tomorrow?
I heard someone say that they are taking election day like a root canal that is being scheduled. You know it is going to hurt, but you just don’t know how much.
The good news is that all the votes will be cast, the unrelenting ads that seem to be everywhere will stop, and there is a chance that on Tuesday or Wednesday, we will know who has been elected.
One of the reasons I’m looking forward to tomorrow is that we are closer to clarity about how some things in the future will look. It’s like getting a test result back from the doctor. You may not like the diagnosis, but you are relieved to know what it is so that you can begin treatment.
Ultimately, tomorrow is just another day in a series of unstable ones in our country and stable ones for our Savior. And that’s what I’m choosing to hold onto and trust that God is ahead of us tomorrow and the next tomorrow and the next tomorrow.1
The great news is that no matter what happens tomorrow, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Love,
Aaron
A theological note. I don’t believe that whoever wins the presidency is God’s choice or God’s Will. God has given us free will, and we have a choice. Just because I believe God is active, doesn’t mean that I believe that God has decided. Plus, if you believe that then you HAVE to believe that God has chosen both democrats (Biden, Obama, Clinton-recently) and republicans (Trump, Bush, Bush-recently).
I appreciate your insight and wisdom🙏🏻
Is it possible to be both dreading and looking forward to tomorrow? Yes, at least it is for me. I dread the outcome, because I am tired of having to pick from the lesser of two evils. But I'm looking forward to all of the yard posters coming down.
